Unwanted

Unwanted

Chained to a cold statue
Staring at far off hearth
Longing for that forgotten feeling
The embrace of caressing warmth

What happened to the pillars
That used to hold up so well
The support that used to comfort
Now the broken shards that fell

Strong walls with lights held aloft
Sound ceiling keeping back the gloom
Fall cracking, crumbling all around
Succumb to salt wound swoon

Screams of desperation
And haunting saddened wails
Escape the crying lips
As safest structure fails

Your world drowns in echoes
Of a dying happiness now stunted
Nothing but a single thought lives
That you were never really wanted

But eventually dust settles
The pillars exposed as fakes
Never the strong protectors
Trusting them: a common mistake

The stone linked to your prison
Now turns and looks down on you
Once a smiling happy face
Shows the self-serving subterfuge

The distant hearth closes in
Hearing your muffled calls
Burning blasts against the stone
Melting bondage joins broken walls

Warmth returns and envelopes you
No tricks or demands, but purity
Wraps around, outside and within
True protection is felt with surety

It wipes away the worry, the tears
The fears of more false love fronted
Encouraged, empowered, trusted, loved
No doubts again of ever feeling unwanted

Victory to be Won?

Seems like perfection sits
At the end of a long road
Classic too good to be true
Yet stars-aligned fate showed
Not ready to be won over
So does chance fall to gun?
Hearts too easily taken by storms
Always lose what’s not to be begun
But the mind is the winds
Souls are the seas
Hearts gone dark aren’t forever
Reigniting flame, is that what you seize?
And if the path is taken
What flaws will be revealed?
The universe plays cruel jokes
And the heart can’t be steeled
The hopes come, blisteringly go
Why should this one be any different now?
But chance not taken is chance not won
So adorn blood scarred armor and vow…
Again…
This time it WILL be  different…
Or so the hope always goes…

Tower of Failure

On a foundation of lies
Is built a shining pillar
Most see it for what it is
Pyrite exterior is ripe for chipping
Twisted bones beneath the smooth skin
Though the craftsman thinks all are fooled
Still, some do fall for the false face
The fake promise of happiness in that place
Theirs shall be gagging taste of bitterness

Stabbed in the back and never supported
The public love, all that was ever reported
By witnesses who had never dwelt inside
Conditions so controlled it was easy to hide
Burn the enemies in backyard despair
Destruction dispersed on winds of Who Cares?
The young and the old, both fall to the flame
The old smashed, trodden, raped and let go
The young kept tight in the loving claim
Victim blamed, shamed, and not allowed to show
Powerless, rejected, wrought frail thin to bone
Truth no one believes or wants to hear held back
It was the old’s fault, outsiders claim as fact
The control freak smiles the plan to victory

Can’t wait till the time runs out
When the cow is sucked dry, gone in a night

Reality alarm clock wrecks the next morn
Sitting here watching it like the greatest porn
Kick the cards that make that house
Set fire to the corner, gasoline to douse
False fake fleeting (not so fleeting for victims) fairytale world
Should have not gotten so comfortable in a gilded dream swirl

Foundations built upon suspect material
Cracks then crumbles and now no more
And the old’s darkness can’t wait to reveal
The shining tower of failure

The Never Years

Listener, let me tell you
About the never years
And I hope you listen close
Follow my lead,
My unseen tears
And you’ll find lost
What’s had by most
(Or so it seems . . .)
The best days
The most fun
The most free
The most happy
The best memories
Are the Never Years
For me
No Parents, no rules
So the illusion goes
No limits, no curfew
Take in the shows
The bed can wait for you
My friend
But if in there you use the wrong head
Be careful because good times can spear
And that just enjoyed becomes dead
Welcome now to your first never year
Now responsibility
Now duty
Now work
Now sweat
Now struggle
Now starve
Cry dark
Stare back at your brief shining moment
That life, cut short, leaves no bright token
Stare ahead to what SHOULD have been
Good times and no fears
But now won’t be anything better than
What some of us know as the never years

False Visions

False Visions
But how can you call it false
When you never had a chance
I guess the tease was all it needs
To change to cans so many can’ts
Another cloudy mist passes, wets face
Thoughts begun cut short, aborted
Rising swell of the infant wave
Gravity rebuffs, crushing, contorted

Beckoning hand of false visions
Snake smile deceit that engages
Suggestions, promises, the golden flow
Curls ripping fingers, the internal rages

Nature reversed, smooth stone face falls
To sharp, cutting,  jagged, twisted
The untouchable pain induced form darkens
Behind wall, under shadow not interested
Numb slips back into comfy chair, smiles
Almost sweet relief cried for sanity sake
The often fed must be the request
Readily soaks core calling suppressed

Blood Shine

Blood Shine

New dark of night the moon calls upon
Adjusted eyes tenderly watch your last breath
Foul deeds remembered should be forgotten
Ancestral warrior’s blood avenged in death

White snow shows black but for the moon light
Bodies quiver- yours in death, mine delight
Last of the house that brought ruin to mine
Revenge flowed thick in family’s blood shine

Transgressions of rivals now render moot
Pyrrhic victory leaves only me to count
The countless times our honors stained
To right small wrongs never paramount

White snow shows black but for the moon light
Bodies quiver- yours in death, mine delight
Last of the house that brought ruin to mine
Revenge flowed thick in family’s blood shine

The battle over and the war believed won
But snow grows a new red line
My unchecked wounds now call on me
Sleep wrapped in your family’s blood shine

White snow shows black but for the moon light
Bodies quiver- yours in death, mine delight
Last of the house that brought ruin to mine
Revenge flowed thick in family’s blood shine

Gone Awry

Gone Awry

Is it ever going to workout right?
Again it just comes apart
Everything you thought was truly fine
Was fracturing from the start

The plan is always the last thing to work
Or so it appears to me
Failure is life’s standing norm
It is our destiny

The way you wanted your life to go
Is the biggest joke of all
You plan, you strive, you persevere
But a mad universe makes the call

The plan is always the last thing to work
Or so it appears to me
Failure is life’s standing norm
It is our destiny

Now looking up from bloodied knees
Sight penetrates the fog
Of life, of paths, of long lost dreams
To see your dark epilogue

The plan is always the last thing to work
Or so it appears to me
Failure is life’s standing norm
It is our destiny
